Lindbergh Drive. 2022
Poetry is everywhere, starting here with the name of these beautiful dunes along the Atlantic Ocean, Lindbergh Dunes, named after the famous aviation pioneer who was (wrongly and for commercial reasons) supposed to have flown through this place when reaching the French shores. The sea, the sky, a lunar lanscape, long-haul exploration… My son Guillaume and I love wandering with a camera around the neck when we meet, simply for a walk, to enjoy the present moment and togetherness, sometimes to have private conversations. Photography is but a pretext. | In January 2021, we went to this beautiful place. By chance we found a golf ball when arriving on the car park. We decided to kick the golf ball down along our way, to let it drive us instead of being or using the driver, taking a snapshot where it landed, enjoying the place, the fun, the moment. It soon became a way for Guillaume to spur his visual creativity and joyful mindset, at a time where he was mentally tired after the COVID Pandemic, and for him, to kick something else, not a can anymore, played a vital role in what became a good illustration of the therapeutic value of photography. And who knows? Maybe Charles Lindbergh’s Spirit (of St Louis) was with us that day... |
